
Degree-granting colleges will be implemented in phases. It is envisioned that at maturity , African University will comprise of the following colleges:
African University shall emphasize professional development programs. It shall implement a program to enhance Industry-University interaction and linkages. African University will develop and implement programs that are viable and relevant within a vibrant community of learners. Besides academic programming, African University will enhance student success and retention until completion by promoting academic advising and career development.
African University will operate a University College will provide a common cultural setting and a Core Curriculum for all students during the first two years of undergraduate studies. It will mobilize resources and develop new avenues to enhance academic achievement. It will furnish a context where the university community shares the responsibility of supporting and promoting academic excellence. Also, it will organize a capstone seminar for all graduating undergraduates. Through the University College , African University will provide an academic context that enhances the student's learning, retention, and success in the first two years of undergraduate academic programming before proceeding to their majors in the various colleges or departments. The University College will establish learning communities and increase students' integration into the scholarly life of the African University community, create an effective connection between the classroom and the student community, and provide more out-of-classroom support for student learning. At African University , undergraduate students will enroll and graduate as a class.
The University College in collaboration with the schools will coordinate the Honors Program that will require all participating students to develop among other relevant projects, a thesis prior to graduation. University College will coordinate all Honors initiatives at African University.
