
The purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum to examine the role of African higher education in sustainable community development as well as to furnish a context in which participants discuss key issues relevant to advancing African University, Tali, Cameroon as a new focus for African higher education. Participants of the symposium will be drawn from the non-profit, government, business, education sectors, members of the communities, among others.
African University has been proposed as a new model of African higher education. The central mission African University will be a unique international institution of higher learning that will ensure all deserving students in Africa and abroad the opportunity to acquire an integrated education, develop their talents and transform into leaders of society. African University will create a unique university model in Africa which provides an integrated education that optimizes the social, intellectual, and personal development of its students as they prepare for the diverse vocations necessary to promote the well-being of society. To accomplish this central mission the education at African University will be an enriching shared experience that seeks to link education to real life. African University will be dedicated to the expansion of educational opportunity, contribute to Africas economic and social well-being, and to promote research, and development as well as entrepreneurship.
